How MONTES was born

MONTES arises from its founding partners, Israel and Iván Montes, the Montes brothers, dedicated for years to the tobacco market.

After more than two decades of experience in other tobacco companies and projects, in 2014 we decided to create our own company located in Barcelona (Spain), and, over the years, we decided to dream of having our own brand.

Our brand was not intended to be just a brand of CPremium cigars. The project consisted of creating a guarantee seal in a collection of artisanal products referring to the Premium Cigar. A seal, the Montes seal, that defines quality in a product.

This seal required simple and at the same time difficult conditions; the common denominator of our collections would be quality, distinction, personality, a modern and current product, but with the know-how of tradition. Tradition and modernity united to a country of origin, to give value to the artisan, to what is made by hand, with the artist's pause, without hurry. That is why we wanted our collections to be made in Spain, with Spanish materials and craftsmen, since Spain is a country rich in raw materials and craftsmen.

So in 2017 we launched our first collection on the market, a genuine Spanish leather case made in one of the places with the greatest tradition, where renowned brands manufacture many of their leather goods, Ubrique (Cádiz). A unique collection, pureras made with top quality cowhide, cured in a vegetable way, without chemicals, colored with natural pigments, with a rarely seen finish as it has no seams.

In 2018 we saw another of our dreams come true, our own brand of premium cigars, Montes Serie M1 Cosecha 2014, a line of limited edition cigars made in Nicaragua.

In 2020, the assortment of cigar cases was expanded with a handmade leather collection simulating crocodile skin, continuing with the quality and the country of origin.

In 2022 we created our prFirst line of ashtrays the work of a cabinetmaker craftsman. Unique pieces, made in Barcelona with different woods from the country. Again, a process of time and calm to achieve these well-worked pieces.

In 2022 we started a project, this time in Honduras, to originate our second line of tobacco, Montes Series O, this time with the intention of offering a continuous line with the highest quality tobacco.

other prosProjects that we have underway are the expansion of our cigar lines, which have been so well received, and the creation of a collection of humidors that combine Spanish cedar wood and Ubrique leather.

MONTES is a htribute to the family, which unites us, to our mother who gave us strength, love, joy and the desire to dance with life, and to our father who gave us and continues to give us values, perseverance and honesty what to look for in life.
